A brief post to mark a momentous occasion...I'm 20 years old today. I have left my teenage years behind, and now enter an era of adulthood. And I am petrified. Yes, I have been oft reminded that it is just a number and doesn't really mean anything, yet somehow it does signify a change in status and an increase in responsibility that I feel unprepared to accept. I mean, come on, I'm still just a kid!

So, in order to try to cope with this milestone succcessfully, I now open it up to anyone who reads this blog to give me any advice you have for dealing with life as an adult. I could use all the help I can get!

NEVER admit you're twenty. 19b sounds so much younger.

I thought your birthday was December 3!

Happy birthday!

Um, never listen to anybody who has pickles as their icon.

Life as an adult? I dunno, I'll let you know when I get there.

Pobody - Ooops, my bad. I take it all back.

Moshe - guess you'll just have to celebrate it again then.

Ezzie - I should follow your example and refuse to accept the idea that I'm an adult?

Now THAT'S what I call good advice.

Of course you're not an adult yet. You're only an adult when you want to be.

And what new responsibilities do you mean? Make a list of "new priviledges" and "new responsibilities," and I bet you'll find that you've come out ahead on this "getting a year older" maneuver--if you can come up with anything to put in either column at all, that is! :-)

Happy Belated Birthday! And thank you. Oh, and bon anniversaire. ;) Pretty languages are exciting.

SJ - Yes! Life is so much fun when you treat it like a kid would.

Mazel tov on turning 20! What a great milestone. You can cling to the teenage years by counting in base 16 instead, in which case you only just turned 14. In that case, I'm still in my teens too. Yes, I am a big nerd.

was i just dissed?

Jackie - darn tootin' I'm not an adult! That's right!
And even though you're right, I couldn't find anything for either column--it's because it's just a subtle shift of expectations--formless and indefinable--and thus, scary!

Chana - thanks!

Ezzie - I've been a kid as long as I can remember, and it's worked so far, so I'll just keep it up!

David - base 16?? I don't even know what that means! You're right--you are a nerd! ;)

Pobody - no, no--your ICON was dissed

Just enjoy life. I'll be 38 on my next birthday. Twenty was yesterday and 15 the day before that.
